20+ Ways to spend your day in Ucluelet

1. Grab a latte and take a stroll down to Big Beach. Search for shells, or watch the surf crashing on the volcanic shore.
2. Buy some fixin's, make up a picnic, and walk the wild Pacific Trail.
3. Water, water, everywhere! Book a kayak or canoe trip of the inner harbour, watch for seals, sea lions, eagles and bears.
4. Watch the free range bunny antics by Island West Resort.
5. Walkout to one of our harbours and watch professional fishers clean and fillet their catch of the day. They are more than willing to let you know what kind of fish they catch.
6. Charter a boat and go fishing! Pack a brown bag lunch and be prepared to cook your catch!
7. Go flying and see the magnificent views of the West Coast, or take a guided 4x4 into the wildernes of Barkley or Clayoquot Sound.
8. Pick up a backcountry road map at the Chamber of Commerce and hike one of the scenic trails.
9. Visit the PRVC (visitor's centre at the junction of Highways #4 and the Tofino/Ucluelet highway) and learn more about the history of the area, the park and this region's First Nations peoples.
10. Ocean watch from Amphitrite Point Light House. If it's stormy, remember to stay a safe distance back; the waves are huge!
11. Tour Ucluelet's art galleries and gift shops. We have lots of unique West Coast art. Remember to send a postcard home!
12. Take a whale watching tour to check out those magnificent mammals from close range.
13. Catch the sunset; take a deep breath, relax; a little later look up and see the stars!
14. Go down to the docks and check out the fishing boats... maybe they have some fish/shrimp/crab for sale for dinner!
15. Come down to the Whiskey Dock and look for sea lions and eagles.
16. Drop in at one of the many indoor local sports activities at the Ucluelet Secondary School (volleyball, basketball, soccer or badminton!)
17. Stop by the local baseball field and check out a slo-pitch game.
18. Stop by the Ucluelet mini-aquarium and check out the sea life! Hands-on experiences and feel free to ask questions. Different creatures and activities to see each day!
19. Volunteer for one of our many special events that happen throughout the season and meet the friendly locals.
20. Check out Florencia Bay and Half moon bay.
21. Grab a bird check list card from the Ucluelet Chamber of Commerce or Parks Canada and try to spot more birds than your friend!
22. Go to one of Ucluelet's many affordable restaurants and treat yourself to some great west coast dining experiences. Try the Clam Chowder!
